Granted, there are many beautiful Korean words and finding one favorite is not easy. Nonetheless, sitting on the train on my way to the airport (yes, I’m flying to Seoul tomorrow – squeeee!) I started pondering on what was my favorite Korean word. I’ve been learning Korean for exactly two years now, and one word that seems the most defining to me is 인연 (inyeon – meaning a connection or tie to someone). The word is closely related to fate, the idea that people are destined to cross paths in a meaningful way. I’ve crossed paths with many lovely people in my learning process, and I hope that I will continue to do so. Even though we’re not even there yet, my husband and I already feel the Korean warmth greeting us in the distance. I cannot wait to embark on this adventure, and I’ll be sure to share it all with you!

Exactly four years ago today, I received this email from a young man who had just arrived from Korea. Little did I know then how replying to it would change my life. He always challenged me and encouraged me. He gave me the happiest moments of my life, and losing him has been the greatest pain and grief I have ever had to go through. Had I known then what I know now, I would still have done it all over again ❤️ He was worth all of it and more! #loveyoualways #fatefulmeeting #soulmates #memories #missyoueveryday #staywithme #추억 #인연이시작된날 #소울메이트 #보고싶다 #사랑해
