It’s no secret that I’m on an emotional rollercoaster these days and that the joy of being free and independent and the frustration of feeling useless are battling for my mind’s attention every breathing minute. I’m doing all I can to stay positive (…and sane) so I thought I’d give you an update on my everyday life.

I’ve gotten into the habit of exercising regularly again. I must admit that the bitchy Danish weather did not do anything to spur my motivation. Nonetheless, I manage to put in an hour of moderate exercise every day. This helps me feel accomplished and also lends time for listening to audiobooks (currently enjoying “How to have a good day” – yes very self-help shelf, I know).

I’m devouring books like crazy and enjoy being swept into another universe. Nothing like reading a good book to calm down a busy mind. I’m also greatly enjoying sitting in on the Japanese lessons at my local university. I tried auditing the classes for the freshmen but felt bored within five minutes, so opted for the more fun and challenging sophomore classes. So far, I’ve managed to make teachers believe that I actually belong there and have also started getting used to being called Sofie-san. While learning Japanese will never be a passion for me like Korean, it’s a fun pastime and reinforces my ability to read Chinese characters. Now I just have to make my brain stop reading them aloud in Korean pronunciation in Japanese class.

I’m also very busy preparing for my upcoming trip to Seoul. I’ll be heading for a part-business-part-pleasure trip to my second home in under three weeks and I’m beyond excited.

I find that having something to look forward to while feeling that I’m making some kind of progress is crucial. I’m still taking one day at a time, but I know for sure that I’ll be fine.

To reinforce this conviction, I have the help from BTS and their new single “Fine”. Listen and feel immediately happier!
