Going Korean in my kitchen

Yesterday, while I was at work I suddenly started craving Korean food. All I wanted was to stroll through the narrow alleys of Seoul and sample street food like hoddeok, tteokbokki, and kimbab. Determined to make at least some of this a reality when I got home from work, I sent my husband a text asking him to stop by our Asian market, to get me some of the supplies I needed. Plus kimchi. No Korean meal without kimchi!

When I got home I quickly started preparing a three course meal of Korean kimchi fried rice 김치 뽁음밥, spring onion pancake 파전 and tteokbokki 떡볶이. I was pleased to find out that I was capable of recreating the taste of Seoul in my own kitchen. I felt I had hit the perfect balance between spicy, savory, and sweet. Here’s a link to the recipe I used for the tteokbokki. So easy to make and so delicious!

I can’t wait to have leftovers tonight! 잘 먹겠습니다~
