I recently learned a very beautiful Korean proverb:

“옷깃만 스쳐도 인연이다”

This roughly means that even though you just quickly brush by other people, they will somehow become part of your destiny. I honestly never used to believe in destiny, and I still don’t think that I do. However, I do believe that we may shape our own future and that the people we surround ourselves with may help us do so.

Ever since I started learning Korean I have had so many wonderful experiences with either Koreans, fellow Korean learners, or Korea bloggers. Before I started on this language learning journey I had no idea that these people even existed. But now, I feel that they are part of my everyday life even though I may not actually have met them all in person. This is what I love about the internet community, and this is also why this proverb is true! When browsing through other people’s blogs, twitter accounts, or youtube channels I feel that I learn about them and their mindset in a way that helps me shape my own goals and ideas. In that sense they do become part of my destiny! I’m so thankful for being part of a Korean-learning/Korean-loving community and this short post is a a shout-out to all of you out there who have become a part of my Korean destiny. Thank you!

  2. I don’t really believe in destiny, but sometimes it’s like life just grabs your wrist and directs you in some unexpected direction. Well, at least that’s what happened with Korean. ~4 months in and still studying everyday (well, almost) ^^ It’s so much fun.

I recently came across your interview on Motivate Korean and found your blog. I think you’ve got a lot of helpful tips on here 🙂 Also, it’s nice to meet another Dane who’s studying Korean (I figured I’d write in English since your blog is in English).

Fortsat god vind med studierne x
