How often do you get a chance to speak Korean? Not often if you live in Denmark. Although the Danish universities attract a fair number of foreign students every year, the Korean students are few and far between.
Nonetheless, yesterday as I was teaching statistics (which I do as a temporary part time job) I noticed one of the students having a computer with a 한글 keyboard. I then approached her in Korean, which made her laugh out loud. I hope the laughter was fuelled by surprise rather than by my Korean pronunciation 🙂
Having been kind of bummed out due to having to teach a subject which is far from being my favorite on a gloomy winter Monday, I ended up leaving work full of energy and confidence. Not bad at all, and very reassuring that my tongue didn’t break at my first attempt to speak Korean in over a month 🙂
